I'm all for it

I have a neighbor who has at least 5 cars parked in their front yard. When driving by it looks more like a used car lot than a home.

yes!

This has been a city ordinance in Tulsa for years...and is normally only enforced if someone calls to complain. I would assume the same would apply here should it pass. And if someone is calling to complain, that usually means there is more to the story than just a car parked in the yard. I say this from experience, since we have some literally "trashy" neighbors on our street. Their front yard is always littered with trash and junk, along with using the yard as a parking lot for a camper and three vehicles. It looks awful! So Sherry, I'm sure your neighbors wouldn't call you in!  Laughing

If enforced within reason

If enforced slowly and without being to great of a burden on the people.  You know giving a warning or two over a period of 2 or 3 years before even considering a fine.  Then waving the fine if the person will take care of the problem.

parking ordinance

I would be fine with people having to follow EXISTING ordinances or covenants that were known before they purchased their property. But it seems to me like this may be legislating cultural norms while ignoring existing or understood property rights.

Ordinance

Depends - front yard I can totally understand but I personally have a small side yard right next to my carport that we utilize as a second parking area but is grass covered.....:(  Kinda puts us in a pickle!

Proposed Ordinance

As the ordinance is written everyone will be allowed a 9' X 19' parking space on grass as long as it is adjacent to an approved surface, so I think you would be fine.
