About Me

Hi, Welcome to my YEL blog. If you don't know me yet I hope to meet you soon. I'm a married father of two awesome boys (Xavior 4 and Ransom 2). My wife's site is here if you want to meet her. Yes, My son does have a blue Mohawk. Enough about my family however let me talk a little about me.

I always feel like a jerk when I talk about myself so let me get all of this out of the way. I am a trained sales person. I've always remembered what my sales trainer told me. Always play dumb; never let anyone know how smart you really are until you have accomplished what you intended. If someone underestimates you it is always gives you the upper hand. At that let me talk about my weaknesses. I can't spell, or use proper grammar. You've most likely spotted several mistakes already. Many people think I'm a jerk when they first meat me because of how straight-forward I can be. If I offend you consider this my apology. I am slow to get started on a project, but work extremely well when I do get started. I sometimes get stuck paying to much attention to detail. I'm too sarcastic and can seem very cold. If you know me you realize that it is not really that I am cold but that I am very content. I have the imagination of Edison, but often lack the ambition to act on my ideas. (I got my first U.S. Patent at 20).

Now that I've given you some of the bad things about me let me share some of the good points. I'm a Christian, although with the way "christians" around here act I would prefer not to have that word attached to me. All things good and worthwhile in my life come from God, so when I speak of the good things about myself it is only natural that I start with God. I live what most would consider a perfect 50's TV family style of life. My wife is an incredible stay at home mom. We never have disagreements and almost everything negative that happens to us works itself out within thirty minutes. I enjoy my line of work a lot. I get to work with all types of businesses to come up with a plan to make them money using all the tools of the internet. I love meeting new businesses and looking at all the clever way ambitious or persistent business owners have found to make a living. The YEL website you are now own was one of my creations. I wanted to create a way to bring YEL to the web in a useful and practical way. Let me know if you like it. What other positive things can I say about myself? I love to spend time with people, and would love to have you over for dinner sometime (I can't actually tell who you are so leave me a comment).

My hobbies include Martial Arts, teaching people, fixing problems, strategy games especially chess, skating, outdoor activities, and watching Japanese Cartoons with my wife. (She is learning Japanese). I'm going to stop typing now before this gets longer than it needs to be.

Young Emerging Leaders

The Young Emerging Leaders of the Greater Fort Smith Region (YEL) seeks to provide an outlet for networking, leadership development, and community involvement among the emerging professional demographic in the Greater Fort Smith Region. YEL connects the youthful and seasoned business community to strengthen the resources available in our region.

Baseball Size Hail

Last night my house along with many other YEL members recieved a baseball size bombardment.  I was fortunate and it looks like other than  many of our flowers and some dents on my car we don't seem to have much damage.  Many of my neighbors didn't fair as well.  My little boys 5 and 3 were very cute praying with us before the storm came.  My five year old showed satisfaction in his prayers when no damage came to our home.

I thought I'd start a blog thread for us to talk about the damage or other stories from last nights storms, so comment away.

My Family Photo

I thought it would be fun to share my family photo with everyone on YEL.  You can see my Son Xavior (blue hair), Ransom (green), my beautiful wife Jennifer.

Thank You Everyone

Thanks everyone who came to the leadership lunch today. I really enjoyed speaking about something that I'm very passionate about. Now lets get out here and participate. I received a lot of surveys and all your comments will be reviewed and gone over by marketing council. We have a large number of upgrades we want to make to the site over the next year. If you have any suggestions for changes and didn't put them in the survey, or want to discuss them then please leave a comment here.

Fort Smith Website to help our Online Community

This is a project Kirkham System has been working on for a long time.  Many of the components of the YEL website was based on our work on www.thecitywire.com.  Let me tell everyone what this project is and how it will affect everyone in our area over the next few years.
