About Me

I came to Fort Smith in 1989 as a reporter for 40/29. I'd spent a year in Fayetteville and was transferred to the Fort Smith newsroom.

Fort Smith is home to me and it's fun to be around others who believe in our community and are eager to roll up their sleeves and work at making our hometown even more special.

I love to write and was recently challenged to start a personal blog -- separate and apart from my work responsibilities. www.tracyplaces.net is a reflection of my interest in place, community, communication, writing, journalism, and, ummmmmm, NASCAR racing.

Don't ever dis Mark Martin, Batesville, Arkansas, or my Mama and we'll get along just fine. Wink

Just to be safe, don't dis the 188th Fighter Wing or the United States Marshals Museum, either. Cool

Fort Smith Regional Air Show

Man, is May a fun week in the Fort, or WHAT!!!

Folks are enjoying the Classics -- Nationwide Tour and Celebrity Classic -- and all the cool stuff that goes along with each.

Plus, next weekend (May 17 and 18), we celebrate the Fort Smith Air Show.

Here's a place to get the latest info on the air show. www.fortsmithairshow.org.

Also attached to this post is a map of the venue showing the most critical information -- where you can park for $5 if you don't want to ride in on a convenient shuttle, where teh restrooms are, etc.

The Legendary Bass Reeves to be Commemorated in Bronze

The Times Record's Jeff Arnold did a great job this weekend with the latest on the Bass Reeves Legacy Monument.

Last minute Christmas giving

I don't know about anyone else, but I've been through Christmas seasons during which I had very little cash to buy gifts, and scrounged for ways to give of my time or other resources for those who typically don't have ANYTHING for Christmas.

The United Way has a really neat "Giving Guide" posted online. It's a booklet that highlights opportunities to volunteer, provide resources, or even give gifts. Perhaps you have something an organization needs?

Check it out here at UnitedWayFortSmith.org.
